Preconception Care

The human body is a remarkable but sensitive and complex organism, especially when it comes to reproduction. Small differences in our reproductive status and general wellness prior to conception can lead to bigger and more important differences for mother and baby later on. Factors such as lifestyle, weight, fitness, stress-levels, nutrition and emotional and psychological well-being, all have a role to play, both positively and negatively.

When planning a baby, it is a good idea to consider a pre-conceptual care programme which includes good nutrition. It takes approximately 3-4 months for both the egg and the sperm to develop and mature, therefore to ensure both eggs and sperm are at their best, we recommend that couples follow a nutritional programme for the same amount of time, prior to trying to conceive. An optimally nutritious diet is vital for producing both healthy sperm and eggs and therefore maximizing your fertility and producing a healthy baby.

To check for any nutrient imbalances or deficiencies we may also recommend some simple non-invasive tests.
